Albion sweeps Medina in N-O track meet
Defending champion Albion improved to 5-0 by downing visiting rival Medina 106-35 in a Niagara-Orleans League boys track meet this afternoon.
The Albion girls completed the sweep by edging Medina 71-65.
Brian Spall doubled in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles and Ozzie Matos in the 100 and 200 to lead the way for the Albion boys squad.
The Purple Eagles also got individual event wins from Orion Groth (800), Brendan LeBaron (Shotput), Cencere Lowe (Long Jump), Jahmeek Riley (High Jump), Ellwood Hafner (Pole Vault) and Ricky Lilly (Discus).
For Medina, Arian Cayea doubled in the 1600 and 3200 while Bryson Costich took the Triple Jump and Ben Griffin the 400.
Abby Scanlan was a double winner for the Albion girls in the 100 and 200.
The Purple Eagles also got wins from S’koi Sanders (400), Olivia Krenning (400 Hurdles), Megan Moore (800), Madison LeBaron (Triple Jump) and Gina Sidari (Pole Vault).
Medina had Phallon Rivera double in the Shotput and Discus and Maddie Rutledge in the High Jump and Long Jump. The Mustangs also got wins from Ella Roath (100 Hurdles), Faith Baker (1500)and Maddie Mark (3000).
Newfane and Wilson split
Wilson defeated rival Newfane 75-61 in an N-O boys meet as Paul Smith was a quadruple winner in the 100, 200, Long Jump and Triple Jump. Max Czekaj doubled for Newfane in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.
Newfane gained a split on the day by winning the girls’ meet 107-34.
Mel Myers doubled for Newfane in the High Jump and Triple Jump as did Maddie Schultz for Wilson in the 100 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles.
