Albion sweeps Akron in youth football

Albion swept to a triple header victory at Akron Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition winning the Mini Division game  27-18, the JV 20-0 and the Varsity 33-0.

In a good back and forth Mini Division battle, Albion took the lead in the 4th quarter for good on a 55 yard touchdown pass from Roman Manella to Noah Harrison on 4th down. Jayoanni Ostrander had a 41 yard touchdown run to go with his 67 yards rushing,  Wesley Olles added 62 yards on the ground with a 34 yard TD and Harrison 55 yards rushing with a 5 yard TD.

On defense Harrison added 9 tackles, Mason Snook 6, Logan Last and Olles 5 each. Fumble recoveries were by Olles 2, Harrison and Snook with one each.

In the JV Division, after a scoreless first half, Albion closed the game with a 20 point second half to win the game.

Auston Johnson lead the attack with 130 yards rushing including a 66 yard TD. Xavier Byrd 31 yards rushing and Makyell Walker a 26 yard touchdown on the ground. Kwame Riley caught a 2 yard TD pass from Blake Preston.

On defense Johnson had 7 tackles, James Trembley and Byrd added 6, Preston with 5. Byrd also had an interception.

In the Varsity Division, Amari Jones had 3 touchdown passes on the day to lead Albion. Braxton Zarpentine caught a 29 and 48 yard touchdown catches and Javon Jones added a 16 yard TD reception. Jahmeek Riley had 61 yards rushing with a 47 yard TD, Junior Morales-Aguliar added a 2 yard TD run.

On defense Jabari Johnson had 9 tackles, Amari Jones 6, Riley 5 and Jorden Ostrander 5.

Medina Colts 14, Pembroke Dragons 8

In a defensive chess match between 2 undefeated teams the Medina Colts edged the Pembroke Dragons 14-8.

The Colts were  lead by solid offensive line  play from  Jadian Cecchini, Ben Doolan, Stetson Hall,  Mackoy Hall, Brodie Chambers and QB Preston Woodworth. Christian Moss had 13 carries for 165 yards 1 reception 18yards , 8 tackles, 1 interception and Kolton Fletcher 4 carries 57 yards, 1 two-point conversion and  5 tackles

Also on defense for the Colts, Mackoy Hall had 2.5 tackles, Elijah Doxey.  4.5 tackles and 1 fumble recovery; Lathan McEwen-Miller 1 TD saving tackle and Avion Johnson a key 4th down stop, for the medina colts  as Pembroke was driving with two minutes left.

Pembroke 15, Medina Broncos 14

Amari Soule had 180 yards including a 74 yard touchdown run and Justin Pitts a 3 yard TD run for the Broncos.
