Albion sweeps Akron in youth football

Albion scored a four game sweep of Akron in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) action Saturday. Albion took the Beginners game 25-12, the Mini 6-0, the JV 40-0 and the Varsity 49-7.

Beginner
Albion 25, Akron 12

Jayce Torres continued to be on a terror this week for the Beginner Eagles offense with 167 yards and 4 touchdowns this week.

On defense Elian Almonte had 6 tackles and Zion O’Neal 5 tackles.

Mini
Albion 6, Akron 0

In a great defensive battle, Heyden Almonte’s 42 yard TD run proved to be the difference maker for Albion. Almonte finished with 115 yards on the ground. Ethan Olles added 29 yards and Camden Holt 19 yards.

Mason Rotthoff and Almonte had 4 tackles, Connor Hinckley and Liam Saporito had 3 each.

JV
Albion 40, Akron 0

Brayden LaMartina had 2 touchdowns on the ground while Parker Roberts, AJ Sullivan and Edwin Dudley each had 1 for Albion. Dudley finished with 85 yards on the ground.

Landyn Galligan had 4 tackles, Colin Smith and Roberts 3 each. Dudley also returned a fumble for a TD.

Varsity
Albion 49, Akron 7

The Albion Varsity Eagles had 5 touchdowns on the ground, 1 though the air and 2 on defense. Elijah Doxey had 2 on the ground as Jaxon Lynch, Mariah Deskins and Cole Hughson each added 1. Doxey also connected with Hayden Cowley for a TD pass.

On defense, Noah Harrison returned a interception for a TD, Tyriek Johnson added a fumble return TD. Jonah Elsenheimer and Harrison had 4 tackles each and Cowley picked up 3.
