Albion spikers top Roy-Hart in 5 sets

Avenging an early season three set loss, Albion outlasted host Roy-Hart in five sets 25-22, 12-25, 21-25, 25-12, 25-16 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.

Trailing 2-1, Albion pulled even by taking the fourth set as Kaitlyn Van Skiver served up points 1-5 and 18-20 and Emilie Barleben 7-10 and 22-23.

Keeping the momentum, the Purple Eagles then took the decisive fifth set as Sierra Newton scored points 8-10 and Van Skiver scored 14-18.

“It was a real big win for us,” said Albion Coach Ann Capacci. “The kids played really well.”

Chanyce Powell led Albion at the net with 21 spiking kills and 9 blocks. Haley Smith added 7 kills, Barleben 6, Van Skiver 5, Kiara Smith 4 and Newton 3. Barleben also had 23 assists.

Bea Bacon had 17 kills for Roy-Hart.

Albion improves to 4-2 and Roy-Hart slips to 3-3.

Akron 21-25-25-25, Medina 25-22-18-15

Rallying from a first set loss, Akron rebounded to defeat host Medina 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 25-15 to remain unbeaten at 6-0.

Maddie Williams had 10 kills, Je’ne Brown 9 and Molley Gross 4 for Medina as Grace Masse added 12 assists and Emily Kams 8. Lexi Neuman also had 3 aces and Gross 2.

Medina is now 2-4 in N-O action.

Wilson 25-25-17-25, Newfane 8-15-25-23
Wilson evened its N-O record at 3-3 with a four set win over rival Newfane (0-6).

Jennifer Myers hd 10 assists and Raechel Blasius 5 kills to lead the way for the Lakewomen.
