ALBION – No. 2 seed Albion will face a familiar foe as the Purple Eagles host No. 3 Cheektowaga at 6 p.m. Friday in the semifinal round of the Section VI Class B playoffs.

Cheektowaga outlasted Albion in five sets just over a week ago in a regular season ending non league match.

Ironically, Albion won its last sectional title in 2011 by defeating Cheektowaga in three sets for the B-1 championship.

The Purple Eagles also have captured sectional titles in both 1996 and 1997.

Undefeated (12-0) Niagara-Orleans League champion Albion advanced to the semis by outlasting No. 7 Iroquois in five sets while Cheektowaga eliminated No. 6 Amherst in three sets.
