No. 2 seed Albion made quick work of the Section VI Class B volleyball semifinals this evening by romping past visiting No. 3 seed Cheektowaga 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.

“That’s the best we’ve played all season. Everything clicked,” said Albion coach Ann Capacci whose Purple Eagles will now face No. 8 Starpoint for the Class B championship at 8 p.m. Monday at Sweet Home.

Kelsee Soule had 12 spiking kills, 10 digs and 3 aces; Chanyce Powell 6 kills, 4 digs, 1 ace and 3 blocks; Aleah Foos 5 blocks, 4 kills and 3 aces; Michaela Lake 14 digs and 1 ace; Meghan Hurley 4 kills, 6 digs, 1 ace, 1 block and 11 assists, Brooke Wilson 2 kills and 4 digs and Jasmyn Smith 3 kills, 5 digs, 1 ace and 10 assists to lead Albion’s balanced attack.

Albion set the tone early rolling to 12 point victory in the opening set as Hurley served up points 12-18, Foos 20-21 and Soule 23-25, a run which included aces on points 23 and 25 and a kill by Powell for point 24.

Hurley then scored points 7-11, Foos 13-15, Soule 18-20 and Smith 20-24 in the second set. Hurley’s run included three kills by Soule and two by Foos.

The Purple Eagles quickly closed out the third set as Powell scored points 6-9, Foos 11-12 and Soule 17-23. Soule’s key run included aces for points 18 and 22 along with kills by Hurley for point 20, Soule for 21, Powell for 23 and a block by Powell for point 19. Powell also scored the set winning point.

“We were aggressive at the net and we played great defense,” said Capacci whose Purple Eagles avenged a five set loss to Cheektowaga in the non league regular season final.
