Albion spikers roll; Medina bows

Improving to 3-0, Albion bested host CSAT 25-14, 25-12, 25-9 this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.

In other N-O action, Newfane topped host Medina 25-19, 25-12, 20-25, 25-20 and Roy-Hart bested visiting Akron 25-8 25-16, 25-21.

Kelsee Soule had 4 kills and 1 ace, Meghan Hurley 3 kills, Emily Joslyn 7 points with 3 aces, Julissa Curcie 1 kill and 1 ace and Olivia Neidert 7 points with 1 ace to lead Albion’s balanced attack.

Newfane jumped out to a commanding 2-0 lead as Vicki Harrington served up points 11-14 and Claire Puff 16-20 to spark the Lady Panthers to a 20-12 win in the second set.

However, Medina stayed alive in the match by taking the third set 25-20 as Emma Ambrose served up points 12-14 and Molley Gross 17-18 as Brittany Button had a big spiking kill for point 24.

Newfane though answered with a 25-20 win in the fourth set to close out the victory.
Stephanie Sherwood had a long run of eight straight service points (6-13) to help vault the Lady Panthers out to an early 13-3 lead.

Medina did battle back to within five at 22-17 as Jenna Carpenter served up points 6-8, Mandy McCauley 10-12 and Ambrose 15-17 with two aces but the Mustangs could get no closer.

Hailey Jakubowski had 11 digs, Gross 7 assists and Brittany Schultz 4 kills for the Mustangs.

Newfane is now 2-1 and Medina 2-2.

Roy-Hart’s balanced attack included Eliza Schwab with 21 points including 9 aces and 16 setting assists, Becky Harnish 6 points, 4 kills and 4 blocks, Brianna Lewandowski 5 points, Courtney VanBuren 5 points and 5 kills and Justine Wittkop 3 points and 4 kills.

Roy-Hart stays perfect at 4-0 and Akron drops to 0-3.

In Genesee Region League action, Notre Dame defeated Holley 25-11, 25-11, 25-10.

Gabe Curcione shot 44 and Connor Seeley 45 to lead Wilson (4-1) past Medina (3-2) this afternoon at Willowbrook in a Niagara-Orleans League match.

Mike Cardone shot 45 and Gage Masters 46 for Medina.

Akron 241, Albion 251
Noah Diebel shot 42 to lead Akron (3-2) past Albion (2-3) at DanDee Farms.

John Krieger took medalist honors with a 41 and Connor Barleben added a 45 for Albion.
