Albion spikers lock up N-O title

Medina, Lyndonville, Kendall all score wins

Defending champion Albion clinched a second straight Niagara-Orleans League volleyball championship with a straight set 25-22, 25-9, 25-16 victory at Newfane this evening.

Kelsee Soule had 9 spiking kills and 6 digs, Meghan Hurley 5 kills, 14 digs and 16 assists, Chanyce Powell 5 kills and 4 service aces, Sara Millspaugh 6 kills and 3 aces, Aleah Foos 3 kills and 3 blocks and Olivia Neidert 3 aces, 4 digs and 9 assists to lead the way for the Purple Eagles.

Albion, which holds a three match lead with just two to go, stays perfect at 10-0 while Newfane slips to 6-4.

CSAT 6-18-13

Celebrating Senior Night in style, Medina posted a 25-6, 25-18, 25-13 victory over visiting CSAT to improve to 6-4 in N-O action.

Nicole Blount had 9 kills and 5 aces, Brittany Schultz 6 kills, Emma Ambrose 3 kills and Vicki Vought 5 aces and 2 kills for the Mustangs.

Wheatland-Chili 25-20-23-23

Lyndonville regained the .500 mark at 5-5 in Genesee Region League Division 2 action with a come-from-behind 19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-23 victory over host Wheatland-Chili.

Sam Raduns had 14 assists and 3 kills; Morgan Hungerford 12 aces, 9 kills, 3 blocks and 10 digs; Hayley Wetherbee 14 digs; and Cierra Riley 9 aces, 4 kills and 3 blocks to lead the way for the Lady Tigers.

“It was a great team effort by everyone,” said Coach Kevin Laskey.

Webster Christian 17-10-21

Kendall completed a 3-0 week by defeating visiting Webster Christian in straight sets this evening to improve to 6-10 on the season.

Sarah Pearson had 15 assists, 3 kills, 4 aces and 5 digs; Taylor Kingsbury 7 kills, 5 digs, 1 ace and 1 block and Chelsea Wright 7 digs and 5 aces ro set the pace for the Lady Eagles.

Wilson (6-3) outlasted Akron (3-6) in a five set marathon N-O match as Sam Ess had 27 assists, Katelyn Myers 13 kills and Amanda Culverwell 4 blocks.
