Albion spikers complete sweep of rival Medina

Completing a home-and-home season series sweep, Albion downed host Medina 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 in a Niagara-Orleans League volleyball match.

Maya Knaak had a clutch run of 7 straight service points (17-23) to help Albion put a lock on the win in the first set which saw 6 lead changes.

Samantha Rogers then served up 8 straight aces to get Albion rolling in the second set.

Ki’Mani Poole did answer with a run of 6 straight points (4-9), including 3 aces, to help Medina rally back into a 15-15 tie.

However, the Mustangs could not grab the lead as Albion took 10 of the final 15 points in the set to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

The Purple Eagles then built up a big 15-5 lead in the third set as Knaak served up points 3-7 and Madison Lebaron 13-15, including two kills by Knaak.

Medina did rally back to within one at 21-20 as Poole served up points 9-12 and Gabby Flores-Medina 15-20

The Mustangs though could not pull even as 4 of the next 5 points, the set and the match belonged to the Purple Eagles.

Albion is now 2-3 and Medina 1-5 in N-O action.

Akron 25-25-25, Roy-Hart 15-19-9
Front-running Akron stayed undefeated at 6-0 with a straight set 25-15, 25-19, 25-9 win over Roy-Hart which slips to 3-3.

Elise Logan had 10 kills and 4 aces, Sloan Jonathan 5 kills and Ashlee Henning 4 kills for Akron.

Newfane 22-25-25-25, Wilson 25-22-17-23

Newfane (5-1) downed rival Wilson (0-5) in four sets as Charley Buscaglia had 7 aces and 2 kills, Emma Hoffer 3 kills, Reese Rutherford 3 aces and Lauren Bax and Jade Carpenter 2 aces each.
