Albion spikers claim tourney title

The host Purple Eagles went undefeated today to capture top honors at the annual Albion volleyball tournament.

Albion defeated Akron 25-22, 25-14 in the championship match of the Gold Division to complete an undefeated run through the tournament.

Albion defeated Pembroke 25-13, 25-10 in the semifinals while Akron downed Roy-Hart 25-15, 25-22.

Medina, which finished third overall in the tourney, defeated Newfane 25-15, 25-17 to win the Silver Division.

In the semifinals, Medina defeated Lyndonville 25-15, 25-17 while Newfane nipped Oakfield-Alabama 25-20, 26-24.

Albion’s trio of Kelsee Soule, Meghan Hurley and Chanyce Powell led the All-Tournament team which also included Roy-Hart’s Bea Bacon, Akron’s Tayden Printup and Pembroke’s Sami Quaranto.

Roy-Hart’s Savoy Laubacker returns a serve. Backing up the play for the Lady Rams are Morgan Mathews (1) and Denise Ulrich (9).

Cross-Country

Medina had four place finishers at the West Seneca Invitational cross-country meet today.

In the varsity race Holly Heil placed 11th and Daniel Heil 12th.

In the varsity B race, Sabrina Quiros placed 7th and Hannah Heil 8th.
