Albion scores 3 wins on Day 1 of the N-O All-League track meet
Albion scored three victories this afternoon on the opening day of the annual Niagara-Orleans All-League track meet at Roy-Hart.
The Purple Eagles got wins by Chanyce Powell in the triple jump (35-8 1/2) and Katie Rustay in the pole vault (8-0) as well as by the boys 1600 relay quartet of Aaron Chen, Nick Reed, Lamar Chambers and Jacob Squicciarini (3:41.91).
Medina/Lyndonville got a win by Matt Cochrane in the triple jump (41-8) while host Roy-Hart got a victory by Avery Green in the 3200 (10:21.31).
Barker’s Brett Holland won the discus (119-4).
The Akron girls team had a trio of winners a Kylee Schultz took the 800 (2:25.17) and Margo Henley the 3000 (10:56.85). Schultz also teamed up with Amanda Swader, Allie Norton and MacKenzie O’Brien to give the Lady Tigers a victory in the 1600 relay (4:20.36).
Wilson had a pair of winners as Brittany White took the discus (99-9) and Trey Rees the 800 (2:01.6).
The completed boys events also had Christopher Sweeney (Barker) and Ryan Leffler (Medina/Lyndonville) finish 2-3 in the 800 as did Samuel Auernhamer (Newfane) and Sergio Cruz (Barker) in the 3200, Zach Sarratori (Wilson) and Manwell Taylor (Albion) in the triple jump and Nate Trembley (Albion) and Andrew Strobele (Akron) in the discus.
In the girls competition, Holly Heil (Medina/Lyndonville) and Lydia Dewart (Barker) finished 2-3 in the 800 as did Meredith Patterson (Albion) and Emily Ludwig (Akron) in the 3000, Caityn Mason (Barker) and Maggie Kowalik (Akron) in the triple jump, Katie Harding (Wilson) and Erin Greenwald (Barker) in the pole vault and Allison Austin (Barker) and Emma Gardner (Medina/Lyndonville) in the discus.
The All-League meet will conclude on Wednesday at Roy-Hart beginning at 4 p.m.
