A late inning scoring burst earned Albion a 6-5 win over visiting Batavia this afternoon in the Purple Eagles non league season opener.

Trailing 4-2, Albion rallied into the lead for good by scoring four runs in the sixth inning on a walk, a sacrifice bunt by Aubrielle Barry and a two-run single by winning pitcher Alana Irvine. Hits by Brynn Dugan, Lux Froman and Kaitlyn Bennett set up the threat.

Irvine finished with 3 hits and 3 RBI at the plate and registered 9 strikeouts in the circle.

Albion opens the Niagara-Orleans League season at home on Friday against defending champion Barker at 4:45 p.m.
