Putting together a big sixth inning rally to grab the lead, Albion then had to survive a seventh inning scare to edge past visiting Barker 6-5 this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League baseball game.

Trailng 5-2, Albion regained the lead for good by erupting for 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a passed ball, a two run error and an RBI single by Liam Ward.  A hit batter followed by singles by Addison Christ and Vincent Zona loaded the bases to set up the threat.

However, Barker came battling back getting runners to second and third with just one out in the top of the seventh after a single by Chauncey McKee, an intentional walk and a sacrifice bunt by Eddie Wasnock.

Albion though got out of the jam by getting the second out at home when a suicide squeeze attempt misfired and the final out when catcher Jacob Buzard fielded a short grounder and threw on to first.

Breaking away from an early 1-1 deadlock, Barker had built up a 5-1 lead by scoring three times in the third on a two-run single byCameron Fox and an error, after three walks had loaded the bases, and once in the fourth on an RBI single by Devan Mangan.

Albion got one of those runs back in the fifth on a walk, a single by Ward and an error before plated the decisive 4 tallies in the sixth.

The Purple Eagles are now 3-1 in N-O action while the Raiders slip to 1-2.
