Staying in the thick of the title chase, Albion blanked visiting Canandaigua 3-0 this evening in a key Rochester District Youth Soccer League girls 18U Division game.

Breaking away from a scoreless deadlock, Albion took charge with a quick two goal burst early in the second half.  Mariah Plain opened the scoring with a penalty kick goal and Brylie Hapeman quickly followed up a minute late with another tally.

Elisabeth Baker rounded out the scoring with another penalty kick goal.

Alexis Bentley earned the shutout in goal for Albion whose defense was anchored by the quartet of Mayra Rosario, Vivian Rivers, Natalie DiCureia and Zoe Chatfield.

The victory boosts Albion’s record to 5-0-2 heading into next Thursday’s key contest at front-running Brighton which entered tonight’s game against last place Churchville with a 5-1 record.
