Albion posts key N-O softball victory over Barker; Lyndonville rolls past Attica
Albion posted a key 8-2 victory over defending champion Barker this afternoon at Barker to stay in the Niagara-Orleans League softball title chase.
Albion improves to 5-3 while Barker slips to 6-2 and into a tie for second place with Wilson which downed rival Newfane 9-4. Roy-Hart, which had the bye, is now in sole possession of first place at 7-1.
The Medina at Akron game was postponed.
Lux Froman had 3 hits for Albion as winning pitcher Alana Irvine, Cami London and Aubrielle Barry each had 2. Irvine’s hits were a double and triple and Barry’s a pair of doubles.
Madelina Pavlock and Peyton Bradley both had 2 hits for Barker. Bradley drove in the Lady Bulldogs two runs in a single and double.
Albion scored in five of the seven innings. The Purple Eagles scored once in the first on a single by London, twice in the second on a double by Barry and three times in the third on RBI singles by Froman, Leah Pawlak and Rori Higgins. Froman capped off the scoring parade with RBI singles in both the fourth and sixth innings.
Wilson 9, Newfane 4
Rowan Simpson and Ava Mielke both had 2 hits including a double for Wilson.
Rylee Smith had a double and Sienna Bowers a triple for Newfane which slips to 2-7.
Lyndonville 18, Attica 0
Lyndonville blanked Attica 18-0 in a Genesee Region League game to improve to 7-1 overall.
Winning pitcher Arnie Sturtevant went 5 for 5 at the plate including 4 doubles and 6 RBIs to lead the Lyndonville attack which included a total of 17 hits.
Hannah Fox had 4 hits and Brooke Robinson 2 including a double for the Lady Tigers which also got doubles from Isabella Groves and Braelynn Dillenbeck.
