Albion posts diamond win over Medina

Jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, Albion went on to defeat Medina 5-1 this afternoon in a rainy Niagara-Orleans League baseball game at Vets Park.

Austin Dugan bangs out a hit for Albion.

Bryce Pritchard sparked Albion both on the mound and at the plate.  On the mound he hurled a 2 hitter with 8 strikeouts. At the plate he banged out 3 hits, including a solo home run in the second inning and an RBI single which capped a two run third inning.

Austin Dugan also had a pair of hits on the day for Albion.

The Purple Eagles later added insurance runs in the sixth inning, on a single by Harrison Brown, and in the seventh on a double by Liam Ward.

Medina’s lone run and only two hits came in the third inning on an RBI single by Brett Riemer which followed a single by Chris Goyette.

Albion improves to 4-1 in the league while Medina slips to 1-2.

Medina next hosts Wilson at 7 p.m. Saturday in the first annual Jeff Evoy Memorial Game.

Wilson 4, Barker 2

Jackson Rotella hurled a 3 hitter with 3 strikeouts and also had a key RBI single during a two-run fifth inning rally which snapped a 2-2 deadlock earning Wilson a 4-2 win over visiting Barker.

John Bender had 2 hits, including a solo home run, for the Lakemen.

Wilson is now 3-0 and Barker 1-3 in N-O action.
