Albion pitcher hurls a no hitter

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Leah Pritchard pitched a no hitter for Albion against Newfane.

Albion junior pitcher Leah Pritchard threw a no hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead Albion to a 17-1 win over visiting Newfane this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League softball game.

Ryan Olles and Faith Woody both had 4 hits to lead Albion at the plate as Pritchard, Aly Knaak and Bryne Dysard each had 3 and Hannah Hinkley and Olivia Bieber 2 each.

Woody and Knaak each had 4 RBIs while Pritchard and Dysard both had 3.

Albion is now 3-3.

Wilson 7, Medina 4

Regaining the .500 mark at 3-3, Wilson trimmed Medina 7-4 in a N-O game at Vets Park this afternoon.

Breaking away from a 2-2 tie, Wilson regained the lead for good by scoring twice in the fifth inning on a single by Julia Faery and a fielders choice play as a double by Julianna Levesque set up the threat.

The Lakewomen then scored what proved to be the decisive three runs in the sixth inning on a fielders choice play, and RBI singles by Faery and Levesque for a 7-2 lead.

Medina did rally for two runs in the bottom of the seventh on a double by Paige Adkins and a fielders choice play. Faith Oberther followed up with a double and Lily Joe Carpenter a bunt single but both were left stranded.

Medina is now 3-3.

Roy-Hart 12, Barker 6

Improving to 4-2, Roy-Hart downed Barker 12-6 as Reanna Perkins hurled a 5 hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Juliana Buscarino had 2 doubles and Perkins and Casey James 2 hits apiece to lead Roy-Hart at the plate.

Chloe Lee had a triple for Barker.

Wilson’s Tori Pawlak gets back to third base just ahead of a tag attempt by Medina’s Emma Roush. The action took place during Wilson’s win over Medina at Vets Park this afternoon.
