Albion nips Somerset in Midget ‘A’ contest
Improving to 4-3, Albion edged past host Somerset 5-4 Thursday evening in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.
A run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Thomas Furmanski provided the margin of victory. He has 2 hits on the evening.
Albion’s other 4 runs came in the third inning on a two-run double by winning pitcher Bryce Pritchard and RBI singles by Vinnie Zona and Isaiah Callicutt. The uprising also included singles by Dylan Fox and Liam Ward.
Somerset scored 2 quick runs in the first inning on a fielders choice play off the bat of Jacob Hoffee and a passed ball. A double by Kyle MacDonald and a single by Preston Harris set up the opportunity.
However, Somerset managed only solo runs in the third and sixth innings the rest of the way. A single by Devin Mangan helped set up the third inning tally and a fielders choice play off the bat of Chauncey Mckee plated the sixth inning run.
On the mound, Pritchard allowed 4 hits and struck out 6.
Eddie Wasnock allowed 6 hits and struck out 11 for Somerset which is now 6-4.
