Albion nips Kendall in tourney opener

Albion scored a goal in each half to defeat the host Lady Eagles 2-1 this evening in the opening round of the Kendall girls soccer tournament.

Albion jumped out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first half on a goal by Brylie Hapeman.

Kendall answered right back with the equalizer just five minutes later when Taylor ReQua tallied on a direct kick but the Lady Eagles couldn’t find the net again.

Hapeman later scored the game winner for the Purple Eagles 15 minutes into the second half.

Albion now faces York in the championship game at 3 p.m. Saturday while Kendall takes on Bishop Kearney in the consolation contest at 1 p.m.

York defeated Kearney 7-1 in the other semifinal.

Pembroke 1, Holley 0
Pembroke edged past Holley 1-0 in a Genesee Region League game on a first half goal by Montana Dieter.

Maddie Papaj made 7 saves in goal for Holley which also got a strong defensive game from Olivia Radford.
