Albion nipped in GLOW 18U playoff semifinal

Stymied on just three hits, Albion dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to Nunda in the semifinals of the GLOW Baseball League 18U playoffs Tuesday evening at Albion.
Nunda built up a 3-0 lead by scoring one in the second inning on three singles and twice in the fourth on two singles, an error and a sacrifice fly.
Albion battled back with two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Kaiden Froman and an error but could not score again. A triple by Nate Gibson set up that threat.
Albion’s only other hit was a second inning single by Rocco Sidari.
Gavin Boyce pitched the first six innings for Albion allowing 5 hits and striking out 10. Gibson hurled the final frame giving up no hits and fanning 3.
The loss was the first of the season for Albion which finishes at 7-1.
