Albion, Newfane girls tie in double overtime

Albion and visiting Newfane battled to a wild 6-6 double overtime tie this evening in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game.

Albion jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first six minutes on 2 goals by Brylie Hapeman and 1 by Mariah Plain.

However, Newfane answered right back with three in a row, including 2 by Kayleigh Daniels and 1 by Taylor Heschke.

Albion though regained a 5-3 lead at the half on goals by Plain, on a penalty kick, and Kendall Derisley.

Newfane cut the deficit to 5-4 early in the second half on another tally by Daniels.

Albion went back up 6-4 as Plain tallied again but Newfane again answered this time with a pair of goals by Sarah Milczarski and Emily Foltz to knot the contest at 6-6 before regulation time ended.

Neither team could score in the two overtime periods.

Albion is now 1-1-1 and Newfane 1-0-1 in N-O action.

Wilson 4, Roy-Hart 0
Skylar Munnikhuysen scored 2 goals and Amanda Murray and Lilly O’Lay each added 1 to lead Wilson past Roy-Hart 4-0.

Wilson is now 1-0 and Roy-Hart 1-2 in N-O competition.
