Albion netters defeat Akron

Albion boosted its Niagara-Orleans League tennis record to 4-1 with a 4 1/2-1 victory at Akron this afternoon.

Dyer Benjovsky defeated Tyler Kelly 6-1, 6-0 at first singles and Dan Beam outlasted Nathan Chubb 6-0, 1-6, 6-4 at third singles to lead the way for Albion.

The Purple Eagles also swept all three doubles matches.

Kyler McQuillan and Monica Benjovsky defeated Brandon Meek and Dan Bielicki 7-6, 6-4 at first doubles; Cristal Quintana and Mike Stilwell downed Cierra Janis and Josh Meyer 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 at second and Dylan Bader and Kelly O’Hearn bested Dustin Earl and Cameron Brooks 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 at third.

Akron, which is now 2-3, took the second singles match as Ryan Meek downed Josh Metzler 6-1, 6-4.

In a Genesee Region League match, Wheatland-Chil blanked visiting Holley 5-0.
Holley is now 4-3 and W-C 7-0.
