Albion nets key victory over Medina

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Dylan Bader picked up a key win at third singles for Albion during the Purple Eagles narrow victory over host Medina this afternoon.

Defending champion Albion scored a big Niagara-Orleans League tennis victory this afternoon as the Purple Eagles nipped host Medina 3-2 1/2 to stay unbeaten at 4-0.

The loss drops the Mustangs to 4-1.

Josh Metzler scored a three set 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 win over Tristan Sanders at second singles and Dylan Bader bested Xion Baes 6-3, 6-4 at third singles to lead the way for Albion.

The Purple Eagles also got a big come-from-behind three set 1-6, 6-2 6-4 victory by the duo of Matt Flanghan and Victor Benjovsky over Nick Bogan and Ray Paull at second doubles.

Medina’s Kristian Snyder won at first singles over Daniel Beam 6-1, 6-1.

The Mustangs also took the first doubles as Kyla Leno and Mike Cardone downed Matt Kovaleski and Emilie Barleben 6-4, 6-1.

Medina’s third doubles team of Brandon Harris and Able Zavitz also scored a three set 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 win over Owen Foos and Connor McQuillan.
