Albion needs late surge to trim Depew

Photo by Cheryl Wertman – Albion quarterback Thomas Furmanski passed for one touchdown and ran for another in the Purple Eagles win at Depew this evening.

Trailing 3-0, Albion rallied for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to edge past host Depew 14-11 this evening in a B3 Division game.

Albion took the lead for good at 6-3 on a 29 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Thomas Furmanski to Kevin Hillman.

The Purple Eagles then scored what proved to be the game winning touchdown on a 6 yard run by Furmanski who then passed to Bailey Blanchard for the two point conversion and a 14-3 lead.

Depew made the finish interesting on a late 6 yard TD run by Chris Pagano.

The Wildcats only other score came on a 27 yard field goal by Devin Connolly in the first quarter.

The contest saw no less than 10 turnovers, 6 by the Purple Eagles and 4 by the Wildcats.

Deyonci Farley and Tyray White both had fumble recoveries for Albion as Chris Shabazz and Michael DiCureia had pass interceptions.

Albion is now 2-0 in the division and 3-0 overall while Depew slips to 0-1, 1-2.

In an interdivisional game Roy-Hart lost at Alden 38-0.
