Albion Midget teams all earn wins

All six teams earned at least one victory this past week in Albion Midget League action.

St. Mary’s defeated Carlton 11-4, Sandstone edged St. Mary’s 9-7, Rotary nipped Sandstone 4-3, Vets downed Barre 20-3, Carlton trimmed Vets 15-12 , Barre blanked Vets 7-0 and Rotary topped Barre 9-3.

St. Mary’s 11, Carlton 4

St. Mary’s defeated Carlton 11-4 l behind the pitching of Jayce Ashton, who went all six innings, striking out 8.

Zac Olles hit a two-run home run for St. Mary’s, which got 3 hits from Reuben Rivers and Brendan LeBaron, and 2 hits each from Jonny Judd, Nick Andrews and Jack Kinter.

Nate Olmstead hit a home run for Carlton.

Dylan Narburgh pitched three strong innings for Carlton, allowing only 1 run.

Sandstone 9, St. Mary’s 7

Sandstone built up a 9-5 lead as a two-run single by Chris Sacco keyed a three-run first inning and a double by Caden Uderitz keyed a three-run second. Nick Martino then hit a solo home run in the fourth and a two-run shot in the fifth. Martino and Caleb Fox both finished with 2 hits.

Sandstone hurler Zach Colacecchi allowed only two runs in pitching the final five innings.

St. Mary’s got three hits from Reuben Rivers, including a 2-run home run. Christian Swiercznski also had three hits for St. Mary’s.

Vets 20, Barre 3

Kyle Woolston had 14 strikeouts with 2 triples and 6 RBI’s to lead the way for Vets.

Seth Janus finished with a triple and 4 RBI’s.  Adrian Kingdollar, Bobby Dysard, Al’Timere Brown and Vinnie Molisani all chipped in with RBI’s.  Brandon Nashburn and Maurice Taylor also added two hits apiece.

Carlton 15, beat Vets 12

Declend McCue had 3 hits and Damion Lattimer 2 and 2 RBIs to lead Carlton.

Dysard had a two-run homer and a single and Woolston had a homer for Vets.
Janus also hit a double and Kingdollar a double and single.   Nashburn and Luke Cornick each added a single on the night.

Barre 7, Vets 0

Zander Meakin went the distance for Barre with 16 strikeouts and no hits allowed.  He also added a two-run homer and a triple.

Barre scored 5 runs in the third as Jason Conn, Jacob Foote and Cade Wolcott all had hits.

Rotary 4, Sandstone 3

Trailing 3-2, Rotary scored the deciding two runs against Sandstone on fourth inning doubles by Marcos Vasquez, Zaire Reid and Shawn Moyer. Reid also had a double in the second inning and Mason Bennett a double in the first to help plate Rotary’s first two runs.

Sandstone scored 2 quick runs in the first as Jake Hughson homered and Fox tripled. Fox had a total of 3 hits.

Rotary 9, Barre 3

Reid and Shawn Pelligrino combined for 12 strikeouts to hurl Rotary past Barre. They also each banged out 3 hits.

Tyler Gibson had a two-run homer for Barre.
