Albion Midget League set to begin playoffs

Playoff action will get underway at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Albion Midget League with four quarterfinal round games.
Those opening round contests will have No. 8 seed Holley at No. 1 Sandstone, No. 7 St. Mary’s vs. No. 2 Vets at the Midget League Field; No. 3 Actives at No. 6 Carlton and No. 5 Rotary at No. 4 Barre.
The semifinals will be held on Thursday evening with the championship contest scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Midget League field.
The final regular season standings had Sandstone 14-0, Vets 11-3, Actives 9-5, Barre 7-7, Rotary 7-7, Carlton 4-9, St. Mary’s 3-11 and Holley 0-14.

Vets 14, Holley 2
Zach Evans pitched six innings for Vets in the win over Holley.
Vets 15, Actives 6
Thomas Furmanski banged out four hits and Mehki Rivera had two doubles to lead the attack for Vets. Furmanski and Evans shared the pitching duties.
Javon Jones had three hits for Actives.
Vets 10, Barre 1
Ben Restivo had two home runs for Vets as Evans and Furmanski again shared the pitching chores.
Sandstone 4, Barre 0
Vincnt Zone hurled a one hitter with 18 strikeouts for Sandstone.
Barre hurler Liam Ward likewise had a big game scattering three hits and striking out 13.
Isaiah Callicutt had two triples and three RBIs to lead Sandstone at the plate.
Sandstone 12, Carlton 0
Rylend Callicutt pitched a no hitter with 14 strikeouts for Sandstone.
At the plate for Sandstone, Rylend and Isaiah Callicutt each had three hits , including a home run, and Mike DiCureia two hits also including a home run.
Sandstone 16, Actives 4
Zona, winning pitcher Isaiah Callicutt, Rylend Callicutt and DiCureia each had three hits for Sandstone.
Jones banged out three hits for Actives.
Barre 5, Actives 4
Mike Harling, Kyle Pappalardo and Austin Aman all had key hits during a two run sixth inning rally that earned Barre the narrow 5-4 win over Actives. Ward and Zander Meakin shared the pitching duties.
Other games
St. Mary’s nipped Barre 5-4 and Rotary downed Holley but no score was reported.
