Albion, Medina youth gridders score two wins
Albion took two out of three games from Batavia as did Medina from Newfane Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition.
Albion won the JV Division game 26-12 and the Varsity Division contest 21-13 while Batavia took the Mini Division game 12-7.
Medina likewise won the JV Division game 37-15 and the Varsity Division contest 35-0. Newfane took the Mini game 28-14.
Albion 26, Batavia 12
Amari Jones threw three touchdown passes to Javon Jones covering 28, 15 and 12 yards. Amari Jones also had a 1 yard touchdown run while Sh’kwa Riley had 59 yards rushing.
On defense, Amari Jones had 11 tackles and an interception, Riley 7 tackles and a fumble revoery and Jacob Hughson, Bryden McMurray and Braydon Cox 6 tackles.
Albion 21, Batavia 13
Anthony Freeman had touchdown runs of 12 and 15 yards and Jahmeek Riley a 35 yard TD carry to lead Albion. Freeman had 54 yards rushing and Braxton Zapertine 36. Freeman also passed to Kyle Woolston for a two-point conversion and ran for an extra point.
Defensively, Michael Walker had 9 tackles, Freeman 6 and Jabari Johnson a sack.
Medina Stallions 35, Newfane 0
Brian Fry scored on a 56 yard touchdown run and a 99 yard interception return in the first half to ignite the Stallions. Fry upped the lead to 21-0 with a 56 yard punt return for a TD. Emmanual Taylor followed up with a touchdown run and a TD pass reception of 17 yards from Zach Blount. Taylor finished with 133 yards rushing and Fry 100 yards. Fry also ran for one extra point and threw to Anthony Monell for a two-point conversion. Xander Payne added a two-point conversion pass to Tyler Chinn.
On defense, Taylor and Chinn were both in on a total of 7 tackles while Fry had 4 solo tackles, Noah Skinner and Zackery Oliver 3 and Carson Dusett, Izell Satkowski, Mailik Baity and Monell 2 each.
Batavia 12, Albion 7
Raekwan Riley had a 1 yard touchdown run and Nate Gibson an extra point for Albion. Maykell Walker had 74 yards rushing and Gibson 61.
On defense, Walker had 13 tackles, Jerimah Bennett 6 and Riley and Wesley Olles 5 each.
Newfane 28, Medina Colts 14
Christian Moss had a long touchdown run for the Medina Colts in the loss at Newfane.
