Albion, Medina youth gridders post wins

The Albion and Medina youth gridders both scored wins Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition.
Albion defeated Tri Town 26-6 in the Mini Division and 13-7 in the JV Division. Tri Town won the Varsity Division contest 23-14.
The Medina Broncos defeated Pembroke 26-6 in the JV Division. Pembroke topped the Medina Colts in the 23-6. The Varsity Division scrimmage was cancelled due to a thunderstorm.
Mini Division
Albion 26, Tri Town 6.
Improving to 4-0, Albion was lead by Makyell Walker who rushed for 226 yards including 3 consecutive TD carries of 48, 92 and 49. Brody Chambers added a 2 yard td run. Wesley Olles had 2 PAT’s.
On Defense Walker added 6 tackles, Olles 5 and Jared Ostrander had 4.
Pembroke Dragons 23, Medina Colts 6
Cole Callard with a long TD run for the Colts for their only score of the game.
JV Division
Albion 13, Tri-Town 7
Defense was the story of the game for Albion. Down 7-0, Jacob Hughson returned an interception 62 yards for a touchdown on the last play of the 1st. Amari Jones added the PAT to tie it at 7 at the half, and that’s where it stayed until about 4 minutes left in game. That’s where Sh’kwe Riley stripped the ball away from Tri Town and scattered down the sidelines 67 yards for the game winning Touchdown.
Amari Jones led the defense with 17 tackles, Shakarion Drisdom 7, Javon Jones and Hughson added 5. Riley also had and interception. Albion improves to 4-0 on the season.
Medina Broncos 26
Pembroke Dragons 6
Lavonn Guy scored on three 60 plus yard touchdown runs and Trenton Muck hit Aidan Pitts for a long TD pass and run, with Aidan Pitts running for a couple of extra points in the game.
Great line play allowed the offense to roll and the defense shut down the Dragons who scored their lone TD on the opening kickoff on a long return.
Varsity Division
Tri-Town 23, Albion 14
Anthony Freeman had 53 yards rushing including 12 yard TD run and 2 PAT’s and Jahmeek Riley scored on a 55 yard run for Allbion.
On Defense Riley lead the Eagles with 8 tackles, Chris Porter 5, Will and Anthony Freeman added 5 each. Anthony Freeman also had an interception. Albion falls to 2-2 on the year.
