Albion, Medina youth gridders post wins

Albion and Medina teams took two out of three games Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) action.

Albion faced Akron and won the Mini Division game 18-6 and the JV Division contest 40-0. Akron took the Varsity Division game 35-0.

Medina faced Tri Town and won the Mini Division game 14-0 and the Varsity contest 45-13. Tri Town took the JV Division game 35-13.

Mini Division
Albion 18 Akron 6
Makyell Walker 208 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on carries of 83, 5 and 37 to lead the Albion offense. Leading the defense were Walker (9 tackles), Kawme Riley and Wes Olles

Medina Colts 14, Tri Town Trojans 0
Cole Callard and Avion Johnson both had rushing touchdowns to lead the Colts. Callard also had a two-point conversion pass to Jamaire Lemaine. Carter Woodworth, Johnson, Trevon Shine and Brody Fry anchored the shutout effort by the defense.

JV Division
Albion 40 Akron 0
Sparking Albion were Amari Jones (162 yards, 2 touchdowns), Sh’kwe Riley (73 yards and 1 TD),  Shakarion Drisdom (46 yards),  Jacob Hughson (5 yard TD) and Javon Jones (64 yard TD reception). Defensively, Amari Jones had 9 tackles 1 interception and 1 fumble recovery and Jacob Hughson 8 tackles.  Javon Jones, Braden McMurray and Brandon Cox also all had strong defensive games.

Tri Town Trojans 35, Medina Broncos 13
Lavonn Guy had 171 yards rushing including two long touchdown runs for the Broncos. Aiden Pitts added 56 yards rushing and an extra point, Trenton Much 54 yards passing and Hunter Stephens 54 yards receiving. Defensively, Guy had 8 tackles, Josh Wilson 6 and Oliver Wilson and Chris Johnson 5 each.

Varsity Division
Akron 35, Albion 0
Anthony Freeman 93 yards rushing and 9 tackles for Albion as Will Freeman and Jonny Judd also both played well on defense.

Medina Stallions 45, Tri Town Trojans 13
Brian Fry had touchdown passes of 32 yards to Emmanuel Taylor and 46 yards to Tyler Chinn and also returned a humble recovery 46 yards for a TD for the Stallions. Xander Payne added an 11 yard touchdown pass to Chinn and ran 20 yards for another TD. Chinn also had a 30 yard interception return for a touchdown and Taylor a 50 yard kickoff return for a TD. Fry, Payne and Joe Cecchini all added extra points.
On defense, Taylor and Zachary Oliver both forced fumbles. Iverson Poole had 4 tackles while Noah Skinner and Taylor both had 3 and Hayden Woodroe and Rashawn Bloom 2.
