Albion, Medina youth football teams post wins
Albion and Medina teams both scored victories Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) competition.
The Albion Mini Eagles moved to 6-0 on the year with a 33-0 win over Roy Hart.
Leading the way, Garrett Jones had a big day on offense with 148 yards rushing, including two touchdowns along with a 67 yard TD from Jonah Elsenheimer. Boe Preston had 24 yards rushing and 1 TD, Rocco Sidari 17 yards rushing and LJ Simmons had a 45 yard TD reception. Jack Conn had 12 yards receiving, Drake Schomske and Hayden Cowley had PAT’s.
On defense, Preston had 9 tackles, Schomske and Cowley 4 each. Conn, Colin Smith and Elsenheimer all had fumble recoveries.
The Albion JV Division team had a 28-6 win over Roy-Hart.
Noah Harrison had 6 carries for 155 yards with 3 touchdowns on offense to go with 8 tackles on defense.
Nate Gibson had 5 tackles, Edward Dozier 4 tackles, Mason Snook 4 and a fumble recovery. Chrisjen Winters had a sack.
Gibson also had 23 yards on the ground. Jayovanni Ostrander had 9 carries for 100 yards and a TD.
The Albion beginners had a 2-0 forfeit win over Roy Hart.
Battling all game the Varsity Eagles fell just short to Roy Hart 44-40.
Kwame Riley had a huge day on the field. He ran for 137 yards, threw for 104 and led the defense with 5 tackles. He had TD runs of 2, 21 and 54 to go with a 25 yard TD pass to Makyell Walker. Walker finished with 82 yards receiving. Auston Johnson had 87 yards rushing with 2 TDs. Riley, Walker and Johnson all added PAT’s.
Walker, Seth McMurray and Jared Ostrander added 3 tackles a piece.
Medina Colts 18, Oakfield Elba 7
The Medina Colts got two long TD runs from Caliyah Boston of 57 and 30 yards and also got single touchdown run of 33 yards from Tavarias Griffin for the final score
The Colts move to 5-1 on the season with a big test at Batavia coming next weekend.
