Albion, Medina will host familiar foes in sectional softball openers

Albion and Medina will both host Niagara-Orleans League foes on Wednesday to open the Section VI softball playoffs.

No. 6 seed Albion will host No. 11 CSAT in Class B1 and No. 8 Medina will entertain No. 9 Wilson in Class B2. Both games are at 4:45 p.m.

Albion swept to a pair of wins over CSAT during the N-O season by scores of 13-4 and 15-5 while Medina split with Wilson. The Lakewomen won the first meeting 15-6 and the Mustangs won the rematch just a day later 10-3.

Also in Class B1, No. 5 Newfane will visit No. 4 Olean on Friday.

Roy-Hart, which is No. 5 in Class B2, will visit No. 4 DaVinci on Friday.

N-O champion Akron is seeded No. 2 in Class B 2 and will host the winner of the opening round game between Gowanda and JFK on Friday.

In Class C, No. 10 Barker will visit No. 7 Holland at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.

In one non league game this afternoon, Medina dropped a narrow 9-8 decision at Cheektowaga.

Destiny Satkowski had a triple and Alisha Scroger a double for the Mustangs.
