Albion, Medina score youth football wins

Albion and Medina both scored victories Saturday to wrap up the Niagara Orleans Football Association’s regular season.

Beginner Division
Roy-Hart/Barker 12, Albion 6

In a great defensive battle, Albion was led on defense by Cayden Farrell and Harrison Froman with 6 tackles each and Kairo Bennett with 5.

Jayce Torres scored the lone touchdown on a 45 yard run.

The Beginners finish the season at 6-2.

Mini Division
Albion 18, Roy-Hart/Barker 0

Capping off a perfect 8-0 regular season the Eagles shut out the Rams, 18-0.

Heyden Almonte had 150 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns. Ethan Olles added 33 yards on the ground, Camden Holt 28 yards and Giovanni LaMartina 20 yards.

Landon Farrell had a big day on defense with 8 tackles. Holt and Connor Hinckley added 5 each, LaMartina and Almonte 3 each.

Albion will face Medina on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Oakfield Alabama in the playoffs.

JV Division
Albion 32, Roy-Hart/Barker 0

Four different ball carriers picked up touchdowns for the Albion offense. Brayden LaMartina had 103 yards and 1 TD, Rocco Sidari has 57 yards and 2 TDs, Edwin Dudley and AJ Sullivan had 1 each.

Sullivan led the defense with 7 tackles, Oliver Stoffa and Landyn Galligan 4 each.

Albion will now face Batavia Saturday, 1pm in Oakfield-Alabama.

Varsity Division
Albion 38, Roy-Hart/Barker 0

Elijah Doxey led the Albion offense with 122 yards rushing, 2 rushing touchdowns and a TD reception from Jonah Elsenheimer. Noah Harrison added 72 yards and 3 TDs, Hayden Cowley had 23 yards rushing.

On defense, Albion had 3 interceptions on the day, one each for Christopher Almonte, Doxey and Cowley. Zac Chinn had 7 tackles, Almonte 6, Chrisjen Winters and Harrison 4 each.

Albion will play Batavia at 5 p.m., Saturday at Oakfield-Alabama in the playoffs.

Beginners
Oakfield/Elba 18, Medina 13

Cayden Dubois scored for the Ponys on a 20 yard touchdown run and Luke Ayrhart ran in the extra point and a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. In the second half the Titans took a 12-7 lead, Dubois scored again in the third quarter, this time from 9 yards out, but the extra point was no good for a 13-12 Ponys lead. Oakfield Elba finally broke through with the final score to make it 18-13. The Ponys got down to the 10 yard line before time ran out on the end of the season. On the day Lyric Chinn had a couple of good runs on offense and Kaydence Russaw, Dubois, Zach Allen and Ayrhart all had big games on defense.

Minis
Medina 6, Oakfield/Elba 0

In a battle for their playoff lives the Medina Colts put on an incredible defensive exhibition against the tough Oakfield Elba Titans as a 60 yard touchdown run by Damareon Shine in the fourth quarter provided the only scoring. Defensively the Colts were led by Xander Groves, Shine, Jeremiah Baity-Medina, Austin Harper and a huge fumble recover from Xander Crockett which stopped an early long gain by the Titans. On offense, the team was able to move the ball a bit at midfield with runs from Shine, Luke Hungerford, Romen Allport and Baity-Medina.
