Albion, Medina, Roy-Hart harriers post wins in N-O season openers
The Albion boys cross-country team earned a split in this afternoon’s Niagara-Orleans League home opener defeating CSAT 15-45 and losing by one point to Akron 28-29. Akron topped CSAT 15-50 in the other portion of the meet.
Albion’s Evan Pappalardo won the race in 18:20 as Akron’s Mike Swinarski was second. The Purple Eagles also had Brady Meakin and Evan Steier place third and fourth.
The Albion girls also earned a split defeating CSAT 15-50 and losing to Akron 19-38. Akron also topped CSAT 15-50.
Akron’s Margo Henley won the race in 20:51 as her teammates Emma Chubb and Kaylee Schultz placed second and third. Albion’s Meredith Patterson took fourth.
The Medina girls defeated host Barker 25-30 as Holly Heil’s second place finish led the way. Barker’s Gabby Baker won the race in 21:07 as Emma Jenks took third for the Lady Raiders.
Barker defeated Medina 15-50 in the boys race as a 2-3 finish by Jack Hopkins and Brent Bachman led the Raiders.
Medina’s Daniel Heil won the race in 17:46.
The Roy-Hart boys swept to a pair of wins defeating Newfane 27-28 and Wilson 20-35. Newfane also downed Wilson 22-33.
Newfane’s Sam Auernhamer won the race in 17:28 as Roy-Hart’s Avery Green placed second and Wilson’s Nathaniel Johnson third.
The Newfane girls likewise scored a sweep defeating Roy-Hart 17-44 and Wilson 15-49. Roy-Hart also downed Wilson 20-36.
Newfane was led by the 1-2-3 finish of Kim Goerss, Nina Burkard and Vanessa Burkhard.
