Albion, Medina romp to N-O girls soccer victories

Wilson rallies past Newfane in clash of unbeatens

Albion romped past visiting CSAT 8-0 and Medina shutout host Barker 6-0 this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer action.

Wilson took over sole possession of first place by rallying past host rival Newfane 4-3 in a key clash of 5-0 teams.

In the other game, Akron (4-1-1) blanked host Roy-Hart (3-3) 3-0.

Snapping a four league game losing streak, Albion jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes against CSAT as Ally Page scored two goals, off assists from Emily Blanchard and Catherine Thom, and Blanchard netted one as Nicole Eldred earned the assist.

The Purple Eagles then erupted for five more goals in the second half. Blanchard scored twice during that stretch as Mikayla Yaskulski, Eldred and Mariah Elsenheimer each netted one. Brylie Hapeman had three assists during that scoring burst.

Medina exploded for four goals in the first 16 minutes to take control against Barker including two by Kylie Bielak and one each by Andrea Toussaint and Destiny Satkowski.

Satkowski and Martha Gardner each scored a goal in the second half for the Mustangs.

Medina is now 2-3-1 and Barker 1-5 in N-O action.

Trailing 2-0, Wilson erupted for four goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to key the win over rival Newfane. Jenn Darlak scored twice during that stretch as Leah Herman and Emily Patterson each netted one goal.

Kayleigh Daniels scored two goals in the first half for Newfane.

Akron got goals from Leah Czechowski, Jenna Robnett and Kara Seguin in posting the shutout win over Roy-Hart.
