Albion, Medina, Roy-Hart girls open soccer sectionals Monday

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Albion’s Emily Blanchard (8) and her Purple Eagle teammates will host CSAT on Monday to open the Section VI Class B soccer playoffs. The action here is from a regular season meeting between the teams.

Section VI Class B girls soccer playoff competition gets underway on Monday as No. 12 seed Albion hosts Niagara-Orleans League foe No. 21 CSAT at 6 p.m. The winner will face another N-O foe, No. 5 Newfane, on Wednesday.

Allbion downed CSAT twice during the N-O season by scores of 8-0 and 12-0.

Emily Blanchard with 19 goals and 14 assists and Mariah Elsenheimer with 14 goals and 3 assists leads the attack for Albion. Ally Page also has 6 goals and 8 assists, Nicole Eldred 4 goals and 4 assists and Mikayla Yaskulski 4 goals and 2 assists for the Purple Eagles.

No. 17 Medina visits No. 15 East Aurora at 3 p.m. Monday with the winner visiting N-O champion No. 2 seed Wilson on Wednesday.

Destiny Satkowski has had 18 goals and 5 assists and Martha Gardner 3 goals and 14 assists to pace Medina.

No. 16 Roy-Hart will host No. 17 Depew at 6 p.m. Monday with the victor taking on top seeded City Honors on Wednesday.

Roy-Hart’s offense has been sparked by the duo of Emma Lindke with 23 goals and 9 assists and Amber Villella with 20 goals and 12 assists.

Kristian Snyder (8) and his Medina/Lyndonville teammates will open Section VI Class B1 playoff action on Tuesday at Vets Park against Springville.

In Class C, No. 14 Barker visits N. 3 Frewsburg at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Section VI boys soccer playoffs will get underway on Tuesday with No. 6 Medina/Lyndonville hosting No. 11 Springville at 3:30 p.m in Class B1. The victor will face the winner of the No. 14 Depew at No. 3 Newfane game on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

Also in Class B1, No. 9 Albion visits No. 8 Tonawanda at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will face top seeded Burgard on Thursday.

In Class B2, No. 11 Roy-Hart visits No. 6 MST Prep and No. 12 Fredonia travels to No. 5 Akron at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Fredonia vs. Akron winner will then face No. 4 Wilson on Thursday.
