Albion, Medina post N-O softball wins
Akron nips Roy-Hart to double lead
Medina defeated host Barker 10-1 and Albion bested CSAT 15-5 this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League softball action.
In the other N-O contests, front-running Akron (10-1) nipped runner-up Roy-Hart (8-3) 5-4 to open up a two game league lead and Newfane (7-4) edged rival Wilson (2-8) 7-6.
Medina 10, Barker 1
Winning pitcher Emily Kams hit a home run, Davina Biurch had 4 hits and Destiny Satkowski 3 to lead Medina (7-3) past Barker (3-8).
In the circle, Kams allowed 1 hit and struck out 7.
Medina won the JV game 29-2 asHannah Hamilton had 3 hits.
Albion 15, CSAT 5
A big seven run third inning scoring burst highlighted by a two-run double by Natalie DiCureia and a two-run single by Skyler Smith keyed Albion (6-5) to the win over CSAT (0-11).
DiCureia, Ellen Narburgh, Kelsee Soule and Janae Doty each had two hits on the day. Narburgh’s hits included a triple and Soule’s a double and 4 RBIs.
Akron 5, Roy-Hart 4
Mattie Klein scattered 6 hits and struck out 12 in the circle for Akron as Abby Stone, Brittany Hudson and Darion Jonathan each had a pair of hits to lead the offense.
Kayla Brown had a pair of RBI singles for Roy-Hart.
Newfane 7, Wilson 6
A two-run single by Leanne Schermerhorn in the sixth inning earned Newfane the narrow win over Wilson as singles by Alexa Littman and Katie Kneeland set up the opportunity.
Kneeland had a total of 3 hits and Alexa Littman and Olivia Littman 2 each. The hits were the 100th and 101st of her career for Olivia Littman.
Oakfield-Alabama 18-9, Holley 2-0
Oakfield-Alabama swept to a doubleheader victory over Holley in Genesee Region League action by scores of 18-2 and 9-0.
Hannah Biedlingmaier had two hits in the opener for Holley.
