Albion, Medina netters post wins

Albion evened its Niagara-Orleans League tennis record at 1-1 with a 5-1/2 victory over visiting Roy-Hart this afternoon.

Dyer Benjovsky scored a three set 0-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory over Valeria Sillar at first singles to set the pace for Albion.

The Purple Eagles completed a sweep of the singles matches as Josh Metzler defeated Elliot Spitzer 6-1, 6-3 and Dan Beam downed Quinn Moreland 6-2, 6-2.

Albion’s team of Kyler McQuillan and Monica Benjovesky took the first doubles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Jarod Shepard and Patrick Sheelar.

The Purple Eagles also took the second doubles as Cristal Quintana and Mike Stilwell downed Denzel Flowers and Kelsey Eldridge 6-1, 6-2.

Roy-Hart took the third doubles as Jon Eggert and Jamie Swick downed Dylan Bader and Matt Kovaleski 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

The match was the season opener for Roy-Hart.

Medina 3.5, Barker 2

Defending champion Medina edged past host Barker 3.5-2 to improve to 2-0.

Kristian Snyder defeated Tristan Payne 6-1, 6-1 at first singles to lead the way for Medina which also swept the three doubles matches.

In the doubles competition, Michael Cardone and Nick Dieter defeated Erik Herian and Nick Fazzolario 6-2, 7-5; Brandon Harris and Xion Baes downed Paige Fudella and Luz Bautista 6-1, 6-3; and Tom Horgan and Austin Owen sbested Patricia Bautista and Ian Goodlander 6-2, 2-1 injury default.

Barker took the second singles match as Sean Benoit downed Tristan Sanders 6-1, 6-3 and the third singles as Brian Hefferon bested Brian Bogan 7-5, 6-1.

Barker is 0-1.
