Albion, Medina have wrestling class champs

Albion and Medina both had one weight class champion crowned during Section VI class wrestling tournament competition today.

Ellwood Hafner captured the 145 lb. title for Albion at the Class B Tournament which was held at CSAT. He scored an overtime 8-7 win over Ethan Pfeiffer of Iroquois in the finals after advancing with two pins and a technical fall win.

The Purple Eagles also had Jr. Morales (138), Alex Hafner (152) and Dayne Aina (189) place second and Blake Stornelli (172) third.

Medina’s Gavin Ciarfella won the 126 lb. title at the Class C-D Tournament at Eden. He scored 3-1 decision win over Johnny Vicario of Eden in the finals. He had a pin and a decision win to gain a spot in the finals.

The Mustangs also had Dominic Callara (102) place second.

Roy-Hart/Barker had Quinn Brown (145), Zach Hill (189) and Dan Moore (215) place third at the Class B Tournament.

Section V Class B3
Host Lyndonville had Christian Garver (110), Payton Grabowski (172) and Sam Doolan (215) place second and Ty Holmes (126), Sebastian Temich (152) and Maddox Stirk (189) place third at the Section V Class B3 championships.

Bolivar-Richburg won the team title for the third time in four years garnering 218 points. Lyndonville finished second with 185 followed by 2021 champion South Seneca 150, Caledonia-Mumford 115.5 and Perry 109.5 to round out the top five.
