Albion, Medina girls battle to OT tie

Trading goals in both the first half and in the overtime Albion and Medina played to a 2-2 tie this afternoon in a Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer game at Vets Park.

Emily Blanchard scored both goals for Albion and Destiny Satkowski likewise netted both Medina tallies.

Albion jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Blanchard scored off an assist from Brylie Hapeman with 17:10 remaining in the first half.

Medina though battled back to knot the contest when Satkowski tallied on a direct kick with only 3:32 to go in the half.

Albion controlled play in the Medina end for most of the second half but could not capitalize sending the contest into overtime.

The Purple Eagles again grabbed the lead at 2-1 when Blanchard scored with 6:09 remaining in the first overtime as Nikki Eldred earned the assist.

However, once again the Mustangs rallied back to knot the contest as Satkowski scored on a breakaway off a turnover with just 4:20 remaining in the second overtime.

Medina is now 2-1-1 and Albion 0-3-1 in N-O competition.

Wilson 5, Barker 0
Improving to 3-2, Wilson blanked Barker 5-0 as Skylar Munnikhuysen, Melonie Gray, Emily Kelly, Lilly O’Lay and Kayla Neumann each scored a goal.

Newfane 4, Akron 1
Newfane stayed perfect at 4-0 by handing Akron (4-1) its first loss 4-1 as Emily Foltz led the way with 2 goals. Kayleigh Daniels and Erica Flagler each added one.

Jenna Robnett scored Akron’s goal.
