Albion matmen compete at Victor Tourney
It was a busy Monday holiday for the Albion High wrestling squad as the Purple Eagles posted a 2-3 record at the Victor Team Tournament.
Albion defeated Eastridge 51-29 and Brighton 66-21 but lost to Victor 53-34, Byron-Bergen 41-39 and Adirondack 54-33.
Preston Flugel went undefeated (5-0) on the day for Albion including earning his milestone 100th career victory.
Cody Wilson, Ben Restivo and Tim Wells all went 4-1 for the Purple Eagles while Hunter Albright registered three pins.
Albion next competes in the Section VI Division II (small schools) Dual Meet Tournament on Saturday at Lancaster.
Olean is the top seed for the eight team event whose field also includes defending champion Pioneer, Iroquois, Falconer, Newfane, Akron/Alden and Randolph.
The winning team advances to the inaugural state Dual Meet championships.
