Albion, Lyndonville win Tri County semis

Albion defeated visiting Alexander 13-4 and Lyndonville downed host Akron Black 10-2 this evening in the semifinal round of the Tri County Babe Ruth League playoffs.

Top seeded Albon will now host No. 3 Lyndonville in the championship game at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Albion took the lead for good at the outset by scoring 5 quick runs in the bottom of the first inning on 5 walks, a double by Patrick Ricker and singles by winning pitcher Thomas Furmanski and Austin Aman.

Thomas Furmanski registered 14 strikeouts on the mound and also hit a two-run homer for Albion.

Albion also had a 4 run fourth inning to up the lead to 11-4 on 3 walks, 2 wild pitches and a two-run single by Zach Colacecchi.

Furmanski tacked on a two-run home run in the fifth inning.

On the mound, Furmanski struck out 14 and allowed 3 hits over 5 innings.  Ricker hurled the final two frames striking out 4.

Lyndonville 10, Akron Black 2
Lyndonville likewise took the lead for good in the first inning by scoring 3 times on singles by  Trenton Muck and Oskar Heinsler and a pair of walks.

Up 4-1, Lyndonville pulled away for good by scoring 6 times in the fifth inning on a two-run triple by Oskar Heinsler, an RBI double by Alex Barry and singles by winning pitcher Rolland Balcerzak, Roman Heinsler and Jack Whipple.  Oskar Heinsler had 3 hits on the evening.

On the mound, Balcerzak scattered 8 hits and struck out 8.
