Albion locks up N-O boys swim title

Putting a lock on outright possession of a second straight title, Albion bested host Newfane 116-48 this afternoon to remain undefeated at 9-0 in Niagara-Orleans League boys swim competition.

Albion, which shared the N-O title with Barker last year at 9-1, was led by a trio of individual event winners as Matt Kovaleski took the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke, Harrison Brown the 200 Free and 100 Free and Thomas Furmanski the 500 Free and 100 Backstroke.

The Purple Eagles also had Sam Sanchez win the 100 Butterfly and Chase Froman the 500 Free.

The loss drops Newfane to 1-8.

Gaining a split on the day, Newfane (6-3) won the girls meet downing Albion (1-8) 117-41 as Lauren Gaughran doubled in the 100 Butterfly and 200 Free.
