A trio of hurlers combined to hurl a shutout as Albion blanked visiting Wheatfield/Cambria 5-0 this evening in a Lockport Midget ‘A’ League game.

The Medina at Akron and Lyndonville at Roy-Hart games were postponed due to the rainy weather.

Evan Pappalardo hurled the first four innings for Albion allowing 1 hit and striking out 6. Pete Madafferi came on to hurl the fifth and sixth innings striking out 4 and JJ Downs pitched the final frame fanning 2.

Albion scored three times in the second inning as Pappalardo and Andy Ashworth both had RBI singles.

Albion later added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning on RBI singles by Pappalardo and Matt Howell. Doubles by Conner Barleben and Trey Hart set up the threat.

Pappalardo had a total of 3 hits.

Albion, which next visits Lockport on Thursday, improves to 3-2 while Wheatfield/Cambria slips to 2-3.
