Albion, Holley netters post shutouts
Albion blanked Akron 5.5-0 this afternoon to improve to 2-1 in Niagara-Orleans League tennis action.
Andrew Burroughs at first singles and Dyer Benjovsky at second singles both scored three set victories to highlight Albion’s win.
The Purple Eagles also got straight set victories by Josh Metzler at third singles and by the doubles teams of Ben Kirby – Kyler McQuillan, Chris Tabor – Michael Stilwell and Dan Beam – Zach Scanlon.
In another N-O match, Wilson (3-0) shutout Barker (1-1) 5.5-0.
Holley boosted its Genesee Region League record to 4-1 with a 5-0 victory over Byron-Bergen.
Corey Winter, Ian Penders and Brady Smith all scored straight set wins in singles action for Holley.
The Hawks also got straight set victories by the doubles teams of Jacob McAllister – Gabe Mendoza and Brandon Moore – David Sutton.
