Albion has two winners, Medina one in youth football action
Albion defeated visiting Pembroke 35-0 in the Mini Division and 32-0 in the Varsity Division Saturday in Niagara Orleans Football Assoction action. Pembroke bested Albion 32-12 in the JV contest.
The Medina Broncos defeated visiting Oakfield/Elba 33-14 in the JV Division. Oakfield/Elba topped the Medina Colts 29-12 in the Mini Division and the Medina Stallions 13-12 in double overtime in the Varsity Division.
League action resumes on September 6 with Medina hosting Albion.
Albion 35, Pembroke 0
Amari Jones rushed for 105 yards, including touchdown carries of 54 and 40 yards, and also completed a 61 yard TD pass to Javon Jones to lead the Albion attack.
Jacob Hughson also rushed for 104 yards, including TD runs of 40 and 26 yard, for Albion.
Amari Jones, Hughson and Shakarion Drisdom all added extra points and Amari Jones hooked up with Javon Jones for a two-point conversion.
On defense, Amari Jones made 11 tackles, Javon Jones 9, Sh’ke Riley and Bryden McMurray 5 each. Javon Jones and McMurray added sacks.
Oakfield/Elba 29, Medina Colts 12
Aidan Pitts scored both touchdowns for the Medina Colts, one on a 60 yard fumble return and the other on a 1 yard run.
Levon Guy an Ollie Wilson also both had fumble recoveries and Chris Johnson 7 tackles for the Colts.
Pembroke 32, Albion 12
Jahmeek Riley had 119 yards rushing including touchdown carries of 20 and 1 yards for Albion.
Damion Lattimer also had 14 yards receiving from Kyle Woolston.
On defense, Alex Gibson made 7 tackles, Chris Porter 6 and Riley 5.
Medina Broncos 33, Oakfield/Elba 14
Zach Blount completed two touchdown passes to Brian Fry to highlight the Medina Broncos attack which also included touchdowns by Iverson Poole, Tyler Chinn and Emmanual Taylor.
Iveron also had a pass interception, Rodney Davis two fumble recoveries, Mitchell Silversmith one fumble recovery and Taylor forced two fumbles.
Albion 32, Pembroke 0
Nate Moore had 118 yards rushing including a 78 yard touchdown run, Ugene Harrison 49 yards including a 31 yard TD carry, Rylend Callicutt a 13 yard TD run, Mike Brewer a 14 yard TD carry and Thomas Furmaski a 28 yard TD pass to Isiah Callicutt to key Albion’s balanced attack.
Furmanski also completed a two-point conversion pass to Kevin Hillman.
Defensively, Harrison had 7 tackles and Isaiah Callicutt and Colton Howell 5 each. Moore added a fumble recovery and Josh Howell a sack.
Oakfield/Elba 13, Medina Stallions 12 (2OT)
All of the scoring came in the two overtime periods as Oakfield/Elba outlasted the Medina Stallions.
Vincent Montegue scored both Medina touchdowns, one on a run and the other on a pass fro quarterback Christian Silversmith.
