Albion harriers sweep, Medina splits

Albion swept to a doubleheader victory over visiting Roy-Hart this afternoon in Niagara-Orleans League cross-country competion.

Albion won the boys meet 20-39 and the girls contest in a squeakier 27-28.

Evan Pappalardo and Aaron Chen finished 1-3 to lead the way for the Albion boys squad which improves to 3-2. Ben Bacon placed second for Roy-Hart which slips to 1-4.

A 1-2 finish by Hannah Wehling and Meredith Patterson set the pace for the Albion girls squad which is now 2-3. Chelsey Herriven finished third for Roy-Hart which is 1-4.

The Medina boys squad gained a split on the day defeating host Akron 27-28 but losing to Newfane 24-32.

Dalton Cerbone and Austin Heil finished 1-2 to lead the way for Medina which is now at 2-3.

Newfane (4-1) also defeated Akron (5-1) 26-29.

In the girls race, Newfane and Akron defeated Medina 15-50 and Akron (6-0) topped Newfane (5-1) 20-38.

Newfane’s Kelly Bochnewitch won the race as Medina’s Holly Heil placed fourth.

The defending champion Barker boys squad stayed perfect at 6-0 by defeating CSAT and Wilson 15-50. Wilson (1-4) also defeated CSAT (0-5) 22-34. Barker’s Sergio Cruz won the race.

The Barker girls improved to 5-1 by defeating CSAT 15-50 and Wilson 19-39. Wilson (2-3) also downed CSAT (1-4) 15-43. Barker’s Katie Przybyl took first place.
