Taking over first place, Albion posted a key 3-1 victory over former front-running Lakefront Sunday evening in a big Rochester District Youth Soccer League girls U18 Division 2 game.

Albion improves to 5-1-1 with the victory while Lakefront slips into the runner-up spot at 4-1-1.

Albion grabbed a 1-0 first half lead as Lexi Wolck scored off an assist from Brylie Hapeman.

The advantage doubled to 2-0 in the second half as Kendall Derisley scored what proved to be the game winner off an assist from Abby Scanlan.

Lakefront cut the deficit to 2-1 with a penalty kick goal but Albion got that one right back when Scanlan netted a big insurance goal as Hapeman again added the assist.

Aly Knaak, Paige Derisley, Abbie Pappalardo and Quinn McCue anchored the defense as Samantha Howes earned the win in goal.

Albion next hosts Canandaigua at 7 p.m. Thursday.
