Albion goes 2-2 at Batavia in NOFA youth football season opener on Saturday

Albion earned a split of four games at Batavia Saturday to open the Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) season.

Albion won the Beginners game 19-6 and the Mini contest 36-0 while Batavia took the JV (6-0) and Varsity (26-6) games.

Jayce Torres took the third play of the game 68 yards for a TD and Albion never looked back. Cayden Farrell added a 39 yard TD for the offense.

On defense, Zion O’Neal picked up a fumble and ran 34 yards for a TD. Torres had 6 tackles, a sack and forced the fumble on the. TD. O’Neal had 4 tackles and Farrell 3.

Mini
Albion 36 Batavia 0
Heyden Almonte capped the Eagles opening drive with a 27 yd TD run. Almonte finished the day with 120 yards and 3 TD’s. Giovanni LaMartina had 70 yards rushing and a TD. Ethan Olles added 27 yards rushing and Camden Holt 11.

Almonte, Landon Farrell, Connor Hinkley and Liam Saporito each had 4 tackles to lead the defense.

JV
Batavia 6 Albion 0
In a tough defensive battle, Batavia scored the lone TD with 2 minutes left in the game. Parker Roberts led the Albion defense with 8 tackles. Rocco Sidari and Colin Smith had 3 tackles and Brayden LaMartina had 2.

LaMartina had 50 yards on the ground and Sidari added 41.

Jonah Elsenheimer hit Noah Harrison on a 20 yard pass for the Albion TD. Elijah Doxey had 35 yards on the ground.

Harrison had 5 tackles, Doxey and Christopher Almonte added 3 each for the defense.
