Albion girls win N-O soccer opener
Albion downed visiting Newfane 5-2 this evening in the Purple Eagles Niagara-Orleans League girls soccer season opener.
Abby Scanlan scored two goals in the first half off assists from Mariah Plain and two more in the second half off assists from Kendall Derisley to lead Albion past Newfane.
Kendall Derisley also scored in the first half off an assist from Claire Squicciarini as the Purple Eagles took a 3-2 lead at the break.
Rachel Chunco scored Newfane’s two goals in the first half.
The loss drops Newfane to 1-2.
In the other N-O games, Roy-Hart (1-0) blanked Barker 3-0 (0-3) and Akron (2-0) shutout Wilson (1-1) 2-0.
Kara Choate scored 2 goals and Mallory Steiner 1 for Roy-Hart as Rileigh McCabe and Reanna Perkins shared in earning the shutout in goal.
Kara Sequin had a goal in each half for Akron as Megan Sheehan and Morgan Wdowka had the assists. Sheehan also earned the shutout n goal.
Field Hockey
Roy-Hart blanked host Sacred Heart 3-0 in a non league field hockey game.
Amanda Hill, Samantha Choate each had a goal and an assist for the Lady Rams and Jenna Gioela a goal.
