Albion girls win N-O opener over Roy-Hart

A big second quarter scoring surge keyed Albion to a 55-30 victory over visiting Roy-Hart this evening in the Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball opener.

Trailing 9-8 after one period, Albion outpointed Roy-Hart 20-7 in the decisive second period to rally into a 12 point, 28-16 half-time advantage.

Honesty Little scored 9, Paige Derisley 6 and Aly Knaak 5 to lead tha Purple Eagles uprising.

Albion maintained a 14 point, 39-25, lead at the three-quarter mark as Little scored 7 and Paige Derisley 4 in the third period.

Paige Derisley finished with 19 and Little 18 as Maya Knaak and Kendall Derisley both added 6, Aly Knaak 5 and Abbie Pappalardo 1.

Miah Glena and Shelby Wolf each scored 11 for Roy-Hart as Rileigh McCabe added 6 and Ava Owens and Claire Halstead 1 each.

Barker 41, Medina 31
Kyle Annable and Sydnie Luckman each scored 10 points to lead the way for Barker in the 41-31 N-O opening win over visiting Medina. Serena Harris added 7 and Dakota Leising 6 for the Lady Raiders.

Anya Bloom and Janiyah Holloway each scored 8 and Nodia Osby 6 for Medina.

Barker led 14-9 after one period, 23-9 at the half and 31-25 after three quarters.

Wilson 47, Akron 41
Defending champion Wilson opened N-O competition with a 47-41 win over Akron as Skylar Munnikhuysen scored 23.

Jesse Jonathan led Akron with 21
